Jack Kornfield was trained as a Buddhist monk in Thailand, Burma and India and has taught meditation worldwide since 1974. He joined the Peace Corps in 1967 and went to Thailand, where he met Buddhist master Achaan Chah, who became his teacher. He returned to the United States in 1972, and founded the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts with fellow meditation teachers Sharon Salzberg and Joseph Goldstein. Jack is a key teacher of Therevada Buddhist practice in the West, bringing the great Eastern spiritual teachings to Western society. His books, including A Path with Heart and After the Ecstacy, the Laundry, audio tapes and teachings are an inspiration for Western students of Buddhism. He is a founding teacher of the Spirit Rock Center in Woodacre, California.
