Sure to mesmerize fans of Memoirs of a Geisha and Lisa See’s bestselling novels, Duncan Jepson’s All the Flowers in Shanghai is an intensely moving story of a young woman forced into a marriage she never wanted.
In 1930s Shanghai, following the path of duty takes precedence over personal desires for every young Chinese woman. For Feng, that means becoming the bride of a wealthy man in an arranged marriage meant for her sister. It’s a role she’s ill-prepared for, and—angry at her fate—she enacts a terrible revenge: committing an act that’s both unthinkable…and rife with consequences.
Transporting us from traditions of Old China to the chaos of the Cultural Revolution, this is a powerful tale of struggle, sacrifice and redemption.

I am not sure what this book has in common with Memoirs of a Geisha (see promo copy). This novel--and Lisa See's work--take place in China. Memoirs takes place in Japan. Different country! It's a little like saying, "If you loved Great Expectations, you'll love Madame Bovary."
