Nightshade

In her 16th mystery, herb-shop owner China Bayles is still reeling from her father’s death, and she isn’t remotely interested in her half-brother’s investigation into that event. China’s husband, however, intends to learn more. When fate forces her to get involved, China realizes it’s time to bring the past to light—or it’ll haunt her for the rest of her life.

But China and McQuaid discover that Miles may have been keeping as many secrets as he seemed determined to uncover—for starters, the whereabouts of their father’s wrecked car, a key missing piece of evidence. How deep do the layers of secrecy go? How are several cold-case murders related to her father’s death? And who has a stake in concealing the truth after 16 years?

Reading China Bayles mysteries is like visiting with old friends. Comfortable--sometimes surprising but rarely disappointing.

Change is good!

Mrs. Albert changed her strategy in writing Nightshade. She added a personal touch to the book in that she included thoughts from Mike as well as China. I thought it was great!! I read all of her books. Can't wait for the next to release. Jan Fore

Great book.

This book is a follow up to a previous book called "Spanish Dagger". They are both great books and I enjoyed reading them. I'm looking forward to Susan's next book.

Third in Trilogy
June 17, 2008

I was disappointed at the end of the second book when I learned I had to wait for a third to end the series. I enjoyed reading NIGHTSHADE and liked reading some of the chapters from McQuaid's point of view. While this book ended this "story" I have a feeling that certain characters will be back and that China is in for another "addition" in her life. I am anxiously awaiting the next book!
