We’ve all heard about the first Thanksgiving and the Boston Tea Party. But what about the original Pilgrims—from France? Or the British plot to assassinate Samuel Adams and John Hancock? Or the crime George Washington committed to kick off the very first “world war”? For these fascinating, forgotten stories and more, ditch your schoolbooks and grab America’s Hidden History. This enthralling book from Kenneth C. Davis, author of the New York Times bestselling Don’t Know Much About History, sheds new light on our nation’s early years. From the true story of greed behind Benedict Arnold to the reason why the most important passengers on Columbus’ voyage were his pigs, it’s history at its eye-opening, myth-busting, page-turning best.

I have just started reading this book and have learned things that I never learned in school. It is a most educational history for those who want to learn how America was discovered. Its history begins back in the Renaissance Period and reveals much more than I ever knew. It is very good reading.

I haven't been able to finish this book. It is definitely for the pro history buff. I am sure there is worthwile info to be had, but you have to dig through the intricate layers of people, places and events to get to the gist of it. Not for those looking for light reading with a mild interest in history.

This book illuminates many outstanding events in the history that may not be brought up in a normal education. A fun read, with many interesting facts brought to the surface. The characters come to life. Read in a short time, but a fun book to dive into.
