Not Without My Sister

Born into the Children of God cult, sisters Kristina, Celeste and Juliana were regarded as sexual beings from the time they were three years old. Never attending school, they were forced to beg for money, endure beatings and succumb to advances from men old enough to be their grandfathers.

Not Without My Sister is a shocking exposé of a nightmarish existence where anorexia, depression, drug abuse, suicide—even murder—left indelible marks on the souls of these unfortunate children. Once separated from their mothers—and, sadly, each other—they escaped the physical torment…but not the memories. Yet in writing this gut-wrenching memoir, together the sisters found the strength to free themselves from the dark shadows of their past.

I am reading this book now, I have had it for quite some time but just thought I could never get into it, boy was I wrong. I can barley put it down. I just want to know where this little girl is going next. I put my self in the book when I am reading and I just feel for this girl, and all of them really. She was is so brave.

How can anyone make a comment like "Hilarious!" about a book with such sadness, child abuse, drugs? Why did Literary Guild post this comment?

Lost my way a few times in the telling of the story. There were too many tellings of the same thing. Could have been less wordy. Can't recommend this book.
