I disagree with most of the opinions in this book. I have used & tried many cosmetics in my 40 some odd years and have found many to last long, have consistent color, and be reasonably affordable. Yet many of Paula's opinions on these products say the exact opposite. I have to wonder, did she use any product more than once and in different temps/situations? I disagree with so much and regret buying this book. If she wanted to sell her products, she should just pay for a commercial or go on QVC, not hide behind a so-called cosemtics guide.

I purchased this book hoping to learn more about ingredients and which product(s) are best and safe to use. This author is selling and promoting her own products, therefore rendering this book useless. Only a small section is on ingredients. The rest of the book is her OPINION on various products, most negative or average, and of course all of her products are rated excellent. I am very disappointed in this book and believe it must be her friends or co-workers giving it high ratings, because it is not worth the time or money! Many of her reviews & opinions are way off the mark.

Paula's book is definitely a "must read" for the savvy cosmetics shopper. She gives great insight as to what to look for in every product.
Kudos to Paula for being up front and providing us with such detailed information!!!! Ladies, buy this book!!!!!

I ended up donating this book to my local library. I found her review of products to be very biased and not as informative as they could have been, on the other hand she did have some good tips. I am more careful about what I buy at the cosmetics counter versus what I can get in a drug store, and it is basically the same thing. I am still not switching product lines though, I have used MAC for years, and I will continue, despite it's high price. But all in all the book was an okay read and like I said was somewhat informative. I feel that the tone of the author was more to promote her own product....

She tells you things that are marketed for your skin type may not actually be formulated for your skin type and she explains the science behind formulations, irritants and anti-irritants while breaking everything down for you. It has a vast reference for every product on the market now, and shows you how more reasonably priced products (think: Neutrogena vs. Lancome) are often times as well or better formulated than pricey ones. For someone with dry, sensitive, acne prone skin, I would have to say it is the best money I've ever spent!
