Forty years ago, young Harriet Vanger vanished without a trace from her mega-rich Swedish family’s private island—no corpse, no witnesses, no evidence. But every year, her uncle receives a clue: a single flower from an anonymous sender.
Hard-nosed journalist Mikael Blomkvist is reeling from a libel suit when Harriet’s uncle hires him to track her down. Riding shotgun on the investigation is 24-year-old super-hacker Lisbeth Salander, a pierced, tattooed and terrifyingly ruthless genius. Together they’ll unearth horrifying corruption among the nation’s elite—and a shocking connection between themselves....
A runaway European bestseller, Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a rip-roaring, dazzlingly smart crime thriller.

Yes the book takes a couple of chapters to get in the flow of things, but once you are there the story is addicting. Lisbeth is a beautiful extremely talented young woman. I am on the third book of the series and am sad to be close to ending. It has been a wonderful trip to a country I have never been. Your imagination will will take you on a journey. I hope the family will find it in their heart to release the 4th book for printing.

Yes, the book starts out slow but if you give it a chance, it is an enjoyable read. There are sections that leave you wondering how you got to that point, and it would be nice to have a little more background on the characters so you understand why they are like they are, but I enjoyed it. If you have traveled in Europe, it helps, because you understand some of the issues better, but you do not have to be a world traveler to read the book. I have also read the 2nd book of this series, which really does not end the way you think it will, and am impatiently waiting for the 3rd book.

The first few chapters are slow but the story line gets more intriguing. Don't give up on it--it's worth the read.
